Make your own acoustic panels

My son is an avid and rather loud gamer and since we live in a very open house, we thought that acoustic panels might help.

I went to work with some leftover plywood and bought insulation and cloth.

Acoustic panels
A simple frame in plywood, brad nailed together.

Acoustic panels
Used the frame to determine how to cut the cloth.

Assembled all the parts

Acoustic panels
Stapled the cloth nice and firmly to the frame.

There you go, one panel completely finished.

Acoustic panels
Hung most of them in the stairwell.

Maybe I should have them painted?

Cost permalink

I bought 10 sheets of recycled cotton insulation for €50 and sound proofing cloth for €150. I was able to make 5 panels from it, so that comes down to €35 per panel, excluding the plywood and staples.
